Circontrol implements “Autocharge” functionality in all its DC EV charging stations

This feature allows to start the charge of an EV automatically

Circontrol, a leading manufacturer of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, now includes the functionality Autocharge in all its DC EV Charging Stations. This feature allows charging to start automatically when the vehicle is connected to the charging point without requiring additional authentication from the user. This innovation is designed to improve the charging experience for both electric vehicle drivers and Charge Point Operators (CPO).

Circontrol’s DC chargers equipped now with Autocharge functionality are:

How Autocharge works?

Users only need to activate  Autocharge, during the first charging session in the operator platform, which will store the data. With that, the system recognises unique digital signatures from electric vehicles when the connector is plugged in. After the first set-up, the system, managed by the CPO, will automatically recognise the EV and start the charging process without requiring further authentication.

What are the advantages of “Autocharge” functionality for EV users and CPOs?

Enhanced user experience

With Autocharge functionality, EV drivers only need to plug their vehicle to start charging, eliminating the need for RFID cards, mobile apps, or additional authentication processes. This simplicity increases user satisfaction and helps to attract more customers as well as to increase customer loyalty.

Operational Efficiency

Autocharge enables faster vehicle turnover due to its simplified charging process. This reduces the time users spend at EV charging stations. Additionally, this feature improves charging process automation, reducing human errors and minimising the need for technical support related to authentication and charging initiation. This results in lower operational costs for CPOs.

Integration with existing management systems

Autocharge functionality is compatible with standard protocols such as OCPP. It is easy to integrate with existing charging management systems, allowing CPOs to maintain detailed control of transactions and charging point status without requiring significant changes.

Enhanced security

By eliminating the need for physical cards or apps to start charging, there’s less risk of authentication methods being lost, stolen, or cloned. The automatic and secure vehicle identification system enhances safety for both users and operators.
