Circontrol improves its semi-fast EV charger eVolve Smart

• This upgrade features better electrical protection, cybersecurity and communications, as well as a new contactless payment system.

• The new AC post is designed to be adapted to specific countries and customers’ needs

The leading manufacturer of electric vehicle charging solutions, Circontrol, presents important improvements on its semi-fast EV charger eVolve Smart. The new upgrade of the successful Circontrol charger features novelties in cybersecurity, electrical protection, communications and software, standing out its new integrated contactless payment system. In addition, Circontrol has focused its efforts on presenting a product easily adaptable to different countries’ or customers’ needs and technical requirements, especially those concerning diverse European legislations.

Adaptable and European-compliant
As the electric vehicle (EV) market continues to expand, it’s clear that different countries and customers have unique requirements tailored to their specific needs. In this context, Circontrol considers it essential to offer solutions that cater for the diverse needs of both EV users and EV charger owners. This is why one of the main eVolve Smart upgrades concerns a new cloud-based contactless payment system.

This solution allows charging users to pay for the charging session without any registration process. This improvement not only simplifies the process but also plays a crucial role in promoting electromobility throughout the continent, making long-distance electric vehicle travel more accessible. Using a cloud-based system, the payment device can be easily adapted to EV Charger owner needs, with just a software update.

The new version of the Circontrol AC post also offers, as optional devices, specific safety protections required in different European countries, such as the PEN Fault for the United Kingdom or the NF for France. Additionally, it has been included as a standard with a welded contactor detector.

In alignment with specific European legislations, the new post eVolve Smart is compliant with the German Eichrecht Calibration Law, ensuring the exact amount of energy is billed while guaranteeing that the charging point data has not been altered by a third party. In terms of grid connection, the eVolve Smart has been designed in accordance to the V.3 norm. from Elaad (Netherlands).

Smart EV Charger for a wide range of environments
Another noteworthy enhancement in this updated version of the eVolve Smart system is its improved connectivity. Now it features OCPP 2.01 Ready, ensuring seamless integration with a back-office system. Moreover, it now offers connectivity via Wi-Fi and its RFID reader has also been improved.

As well as with the previous version of this EV charger, it is designed to be installed in both public access environments, such as urban spaces, shopping centres, car parks or airports, among others, and private areas, like workplaces or condominiums. With its 22 kW of power with type 2 plugs, it is possible to charge approximately 130 km in 1 hour. In addition, it is compatible with Dynamic Load Management (DLM) systems.
